The leader and manager of the band is Ashley Lucky who was born in Trinidad and fell in love with British Columbia because of its beauty, making it his permanent residence.

Ashley founded two Steelbands in Vancouver and has been a member of all the Caribbean bands in the lower mainland.

For years Ashley experimented with different electronic instruments and is finally satisfied with the effect produced by combining the rich sounds of the steeldrums with the keyboard, and horns.

Tropical Heat music has now become more versatile with arrangements of any type of music around the steeldrums. Although the musical repertoire is primarily Calypso and Reggae, Tropical Heat plays Salsa and popular North American hits including: Swing, Jive and Jazz with a Caribbean flavour.

Tropical Heat performs at Corporate functions, providing dance or background music; Country Fairgrounds, Malls, Private parties, Weddings, Parades, Boat Cruises, or Professional Ball Games.
